Yesterday as I was driving down to the Bay Area to be with my mom, I was listening to NPR. I always listen to National Public Radio when I am driving somewhere far without my kids. I tease my husband that I get smarter the further away from our house that I get!
Anyway, I heard a great interview with a teacher from Modesto Junior College who recently published a book of poems. (I don't have time to get all the info, but I will do that at a later date.) It was such a treat to hear him read a few of his poems. He read one called (something like) When Girls Called, and he read parts of it using his Syrian mother's "voice." It was hysterical and yet so powerful. The part that really got me was what his mother told him about French kissing girls--"It's like dialing the devil with your tongue!" How's that for an image?
Now back to the hospital . . .
