The holidays have officially hit me upside the head today! I've been making Thanksgiving plans for a few weeks now and am making a turkey for the kids' class feast tomorrow, but I hadn't moved into the reality that December is just a few short days after that! Ack! I love Thanksgiving and am so looking forward to our quiet day with just a few family members and one good friend. Football, good food, Oma and Auntie ME playing with my kids . . . all good things in my book! But Christmas around the corner doesn't thrill me as much!
Since August, I've been meaning to begin reading Hundred Dollar Holiday: The Case for a More Joyful Christmas by Bill McKibben. It's still on my desk but is now under 2 DVD's, 2 magazines and 3 other books. Not good! I will vow to make it through at least part of the book this weekend and see if I can share anything that might help us get through some of the holiday chaos and expectations that change a good day to bad really quickly!
That being said, I am wondering today if I really even need to buy my children any new toys. Check out what they rigged up while I was in my office blogging!
They really took the "tent" idea and ran with it! And then . . .
And this . . .
It's a fun "stay at home day" at our house!

We call that the slip and slide.
