Still cruising through some magazines from last month with pages turned down--the sign that there is something blog-worthy in there! Found all of this in the September issue of Family Fun magazine. And I know this first topic is DEFINITELY worth sharing!
The Food Allergy Mama website is Kelly Rudnicki's blog with lots of information about children and food allergies as well as great recipes and a link to her newly published book. Even if your child doesn't have allergies, check it out. There are ideas and recipes on how to do things like bring birthday treats to school that are less potentially threatening to children with food allergies. Knowing my friend, Sara, and her two children (both with food allergies), this is truly important information for all parents to know!
Check out this link to her post about how misinformed the public is about food allergies. It might shock you OR give you some of that knowledge Plato and I were talking about the other day!
There was also a great article called 15 Smart School-Day Solutions with some great ideas. Two were truly innovative, and although I might be the kind of mom who loves the idea of this, I am pretty sure that I wouldn't do it. But I would really admire the mom who did! How about making ecofriendly containers from juice cartons and milk jugs?
Hope you learned something new today!

Don't mean to sound so dramatic but there were a few times that I had allergic reactions that I thought I wasn't going to make it. It breaks my heart to know that there are kids out there in that position. Thanks again.

Thanks for the website. I get that magazine and missed it!!! My twin nephews have severe food allergies, so I sent it to my sister-in-law. I also have several friends who have kids with severe food allergies. They were grateful for the website I also have an unknown allergy that has put me into anaphalactic (?) shock and it is scary. Education for all is important because a severe reaction could be life or death.
